📋 Description

• Serve as an emerging subject matter expert and autonomous individual contributor • Lead and monitor scope, schedule, and delivery requirements • Shape the program's long-term technical strategy and represent software engineering in planning sessions • Advocate for technical solutions while communicating tradeoffs • Lead stakeholder communications and drive improvements in software engineering and DevOps practices • Improve technical decision-making and consolidate DevOps tools and services across teams or programs • Mentor team members and act as an emerging people leader • Lead critical or cross-cutting team structures and projects • Present technical topics to clients, stakeholders, partners, and engineers • Guide cloud infrastructure and pipeline design decisions, balancing cost, reliability, and efficiency • Guide development and operation of solution infrastructure using cloud services and IaC tooling • Set direction for libraries, modules, and packages used across projects • Ensure defense-in-depth security practices and alignment with CMS/NIST quality and compliance standards for ATO retention • Establish and evolve organization-wide CI/CD strategy • Integrate tooling for quality thresholds, security vulnerabilities, and static analysis • Plan and execute migrations to cloud-native data services • Participate in and lead partner and stakeholder planning sessions • Periodically travel to work with and present to clients, partners, and stakeholders • Elaborate and evolve complex products to uncover constraints and opportunities • Ensure software meets security, SLA, and performance requirements • Communicate system history, design decisions, performance, and project information for bids, demos, and client communications • Participate in technical depth interviews and help shape the discipline's technical bar

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 9+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience) • Expert-level mastery of core DevOps concepts, including installing software, virtualization, containerization, and networking • Expert-level knowledge of Terraform/Terragrunt, including module design and multi-environment state management at scale • Expert-level knowledge of GitHub Actions and Argo CD, including designing and troubleshooting complex CI/CD pipelines across teams • Expert-level knowledge of HAProxy/OpenResty in production environments • Expert-level knowledge of AWS Cloud Services, including EKS/Kubernetes cluster architecture, workload scheduling, and lifecycle management • Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure design decisions and communicating tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders • Experience ensuring systems meet CMS/NIST compliance standards to support client ATO retention • U.S. citizenship or current legal authorization to work and reside in the United States without employer sponsorship • Ability to successfully complete and maintain any required government background investigation • Comfort operating across both DevOps and SRE functions • Expertise with observability tooling such as Datadog • Experience with security tooling such as Trivy or Aqua • Experience navigating the FedRAMP/ATO process • Experience mentoring engineers
