• Lead development and implementation of strategies to accelerate Texas’s clean energy transition in the electric and transportation sectors • Achieve short- and long-term legislative, administrative, and regulatory policy objectives • Build and maintain relationships with legislative and administrative decision makers in Texas • Develop and execute Advanced Energy United’s Texas strategy • Collaborate with regulatory and policy teams to expand markets for the advanced energy industry • Educate decision makers and candidates about advanced energy technologies • Facilitate member company engagement in policy advocacy • Work with member companies to develop policy positions and reach consensus • Manage lobbyist and consultant relationships and legislative or communications engagement • Organize lobby days, legislator and candidate education, earned media, and participation in legislative, regulatory, and administrative processes • Maintain relationships with coalition partners, allies, and legislative and administrative staff • Coordinate advocacy efforts with coalition allies • Create reports, presentations, fact sheets, and other education and advocacy materials • Draft comments and testimony and deliver verbal presentations • Identify earned media opportunities with the communications team, including press statements, media interviews, blog posts, webinars, and showcases • Travel as needed, up to 30%, for advocacy days, stakeholder meetings, communications outreach, and related efforts • Report to the Central Region Managing Director
• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, economics, engineering or arts and sciences preferred, or comparable experience • Master’s degree in a relevant area is a plus • Interest in energy and transportation issues and understanding of policy advocacy • Entrepreneurial approach and flexible attitude • Ability to operate independently and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to independently draft clear, comprehensive, and persuasive written documents • Intellectual curiosity, inquisitive nature, excellent listening, and problem-solving skills • Strong work ethic, demonstrated initiative, and commitment to achieving goals • Ability to engage members, customers, and funders and communicate Advanced Energy United’s value proposition • Sense of humor and willingness to keep learning • Must be willing to travel • Must reside in or around Austin, Texas
