📋 Description

• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand data- and people-related business problems and translate them into scalable data solutions • Build data pipelines and tables from HR systems such as Workday, Greenhouse, and other data sources • Support Data Science team members with reporting, dashboard development, and client-facing use cases • Build, update, and maintain production-grade data foundations supporting AI initiatives, including LLM-powered tools, evaluation and feedback datasets, access controls, and data models • Design and deliver dashboards and reporting tools, including Streamlit visualization apps, for non-technical stakeholders • Write and optimize queries across Trino/Presto and Postgres • Align work with priorities and a roadmap • Assess data readiness for AI use cases and ensure sensitive employee data has appropriate governance, permissioning, and access controls • Build infrastructure to transition AI prototypes to production, including automated pipelines, security controls, and stable data models • Support organizational agility through adaptability and good judgment • Continue learning, listening, and teaching to advance data engineering, people analytics, and Airbnb

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience as a Data Engineer or closely related field • Highly proficient in SQL across OLAP and OLTP environments, including Trino/Presto/Hive and Postgres syntax • Strong command of Ubuntu, including navigating, managing, and editing files on AWS instances through SSH • Experience with relational databases and database administration • Fluent in Python and able to interact with web APIs, SFTP, S3 buckets, and Airtable • Experience with scalable data pipelines using Airflow or similar orchestration frameworks • Proficiency with primary keys, indexes, nullable fields, data types, partitioning, and data modeling • Experience handling sensitive data, including sensitivity classification, access controls, audit logging, and data governance • Experience building data products, dashboards, or reporting tools using lightweight frontend frameworks such as Streamlit • Ability to analyze large datasets, identify gaps and inconsistencies, interpret complex queries, and communicate findings to non-technical audiences • Experience building data layers for LLM-based tooling or agentic AI frameworks, including data quality, latency, AI evaluation, feedback loops, and evaluation dataset management • Comfort working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders • Understanding of data structures and algorithms, including medium-complexity problems • Knowledge of Git repositories, codebase management, and version control • Familiarity with system design principles for data platforms or AI-integrated systems • Must live in a US state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity
