• Support the organization, direction, and administration of regional aviation activities and personnel • Oversee regional aviation safety and training • Ensure regional operations comply with regulations, operations specifications, and the General Operations Manual • Participate in Air Methods’ management team • Research and report FRx budget/actual variances to the Director of Operations • Manage aviation portions of base startup, closure, and movement activities • Distribute and revise Operations Manual and Operations Specifications updates • Manage aircraft integration, availability, and trained pilot support • Delegate aviation field logistical support to the Area Manager • Attend or delegate fleet status teleconferences and KPI Dashboard activities • Coordinate pilot training with the Pilot Training team • Coordinate safety issues with the Regional Safety Director and Area Manager • Assist with aviation mishap investigations and root cause analyses • Submit required flight personnel reports to the Regional Aviation Director • Monitor aviation personnel behavior and performance for policy compliance • Ensure pilots use the 411 system • Correct audit deficiencies and compliance issues • Coordinate medical crewmember and communication specialist training; monitor CTS compliance and conduct Air Medical Resource Management training • Ensure in-service training and accurate training records before returning backup aircraft to service • Conduct or coordinate ferry and MOC flights • Monitor and respond to AIDMOR submissions • Coordinate correction of mechanical irregularities with Regional Maintenance leadership • Complete initial GPS updates for assigned aircraft • Act as on-scene representative for accidents and incidents • Educate pilots on SMS and ASAP programs • Be available 24/7 and work a flexible schedule • Directly supervise Aviation department employees, including hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, and resolving problems
• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in aviation and air medical transports • Minimum of 2,500 flight hours • Two (2) years of experience in a Part 135 operation • Effective oral and written communication skills • Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills • Ability to manage and administer a broad range of tasks • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions consistent with the essential job functions • Ability to prepare written reports, correspondence, and presentations to senior leadership • Proven leadership skills • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally • Intermediate Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (Airplane or Rotorcraft) • FAA Second Class Medical • Subject to DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing requirements
