• Serve as a key operational partner to assigned Conservation Division team leaders • Implement upgraded operational systems, tools, and efficient processes as Conservation teams grow • Ensure conservation work is executed efficiently and complies with organizational policies and applicable laws and regulations • Coordinate with Finance and Grants Management to ensure compliance with enterprise processes and systems • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, time and expense reporting, and grant reporting • Track and manage team-level budgets and provide project and grant budget tracking tools and reports • Ensure grants are spent down in compliance with donor restrictions and on time • Implement grant extension requests as needed • Ensure staff time is properly distributed across available funding sources • Support grant proposal budget development with project managers and the Advancement team • Review donor gift tracking managed by the Advancement team • Coordinate fundraising priorities based on identified budget gaps • Ensure procurement and contracting procedures and laws are followed • Flag work requiring additional legal review, consultation, or insurance coverage • Steward team projects through approval and funding phases • Ensure organizational staff are notified and consulted about new work • Coordinate with Conservation team leads and the Director of Operations, Conservation on emerging operational needs • Integrate Conservation teams with the centralized Business Strategy and Operations and Advancement divisions
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree required • 7+ years of experience managing budgets, grants, and/or contracts with complex compliance requirements • Nonprofit or mission-driven organization experience preferred • Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Proficiency with core enterprise software tools, including accounting and budgeting software, project management software, and/or CRM • Must be legally allowed to work as an employee in the United States • Ability to work in states where American Rivers can do business
