📋 Description

• Lead the month-end close process and deliver financial statements for each reporting entity within 10 days of month-end • Review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the GL team • Review monthly P&L coding across vendors, departments, and brands • Prepare monthly financial commentary for MD&A • Build and maintain a standardized, scalable close process and accounting infrastructure • Train and supervise the AP team and oversee weekly vendor bill payments • Enforce internal controls over cash management and new vendor setup • Manage employee expense reimbursements and company credit card reporting • Prepare and file annual 1099 reporting • Approve daily positive pay, code unreconciled bank transactions in NetSuite, and resolve unusual cash activity • Lead monthly inventory close, including freight, 3PL logistics, and accrued purchases reconciliations • Prepare My Perfect Pet inventory journal entries and maintain quarterly standard costs • Reconcile NetSuite inventory to co-manufacturer and 3PL reports • Complete quarterly inventory reserve and excess and obsolete reviews • Partner with Operations and 3PLs to resolve operational accounting issues • Sync payroll from Rippling to NetSuite and reconcile payroll accruals • Maintain NetSuite as the source of truth for financial reporting • Administer AP vendor processing, employee expense reporting, and company credit card systems • Identify and implement process improvements and AI automation for close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and transaction reviews • Support system implementations and acquisition integrations • Lead, train, and develop GL and AP accountants • Drive accountability for deadlines, audit-ready financials, and documentation • Hold weekly 1:1s and provide real-time feedback • Act as a player-coach alongside the team • Lead the annual financial statement audit to completion by April 15 with an unqualified opinion and no material weaknesses • Maintain audit-ready reconciliations, documentation, and policies • Liaise with auditors and support testing requests and confirmations • Research and document GAAP guidance • Support the Controller with tax requests, internal controls, and regulatory compliance

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field • CPA highly desirable; public accounting or audit experience a plus • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years leading GL and AP teams • Proven experience closing monthly books within 10 days for an inventory-heavy, omnichannel CPG business • Experience successfully delivering in a $100-200M organization • Strong technical GAAP knowledge with experience researching, applying, and documenting accounting guidance for audit • Experience supporting a full year-end financial statement audit • Acquisition accounting or cash-to-GAAP conversion experience a big plus • Track record of implementing internal controls, policies, and procedures and improving transaction processing to scale with a growing company • Knowledge and experience with NetSuite and system implementations highly desirable • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build clean, well-formatted, complex analyses that tell the full story • Exceptional attention to detail, ownership over the numbers, and clear, concise communication skills • Passion for pets, consumer brands, and building and scaling a fast-growing company • This is a remote position open to candidates based in the U.S. only • Legally authorized to work in the United States
