📋 Description

• Serve as the primary Health & Safety point of contact for the Central Region • Support implementation and continuous improvement of Apex Health & Safety programs, policies, procedures, and expectations • Partner with regional, division, branch, program, project, and field leadership on safe work planning and execution • Conduct field visits, site safety observations, office inspections, and project safety reviews • Coach and mentor employees, supervisors, and managers on safe work practices, hazard identification, and risk control • Review JSAs, HASPs, Ground Disturbance Plans, variance requests, and other project safety planning documents • Support incident reporting, response, investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action tracking, and WorkCare or workers’ compensation follow-up • Support fleet safety, driver compliance, and FMCSA/DOT compliance activities • Identify regional safety trends, recurring exposures, operational gaps, and continuous improvement opportunities • Develop and deliver safety communications, toolbox talks, safety alerts, newsletters, and engagement content • Facilitate regional safety meetings, Safety Committee participation, and safety roundtables • Support onboarding safety, field readiness, PPE needs, medical surveillance coordination, and training follow-up • Support Cornerstone training assignments, troubleshooting, and tracking • Provide subcontractor, client, and project-specific safety compliance support • Participate in Health & Safety program development, Management of Change reviews, and cross-functional initiatives • Promote a proactive safety culture through visible leadership, coaching, follow-up, and communication

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant health and safety experience supporting field operations • Demonstrated ability to implement safety programs in practical, field-based settings • Experience conducting field safety inspections, observations, audits, or project reviews • Experience supporting incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action development, and follow-up • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and practical safe work practices • Familiarity with JSAs, HASPs, hazard assessments, PPE selection, and project safety planning • Ability to communicate with field employees, supervisors, managers, and senior leaders • Strong coaching, facilitation, written communication, and organizational skills • Ability to work independently in a remote or distributed environment • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and common safety management systems • Ability to travel within the Central Region • Specific examples of field safety leadership, incident response, safety coaching, program implementation, project safety review, or corrective action follow-up • Preferred but not required: safety certification such as CHST, ASP, CSP, or OHST • Preferred but not required: degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field • Preferred but not required: environmental consulting, construction, remediation, industrial, utility, fleet/DOT, training, Cornerstone, WorkCare, ISNetworld, Avetta, or Veriforce experience
