📋 Description

• Assess and monitor nutritional care • Manage physician-ordered therapeutic diets • Provide nutritional education to patients • Coordinate patient menu activities as needed • Perform nutritional assessments and follow-up care by reviewing patient charts, diagnoses, and nutritional history • Develop and implement nutrition care plans • Perform nutritional screenings and follow up on assigned areas • Document all relevant aspects of nutritional care according to institutional and departmental standards • Review, update, and coordinate patient nutritional care through communication with nursing, providers, and other healthcare team members • Assess patients' educational needs • Develop and implement nutrition education plans • Teach group nutrition classes • Write diet and enteral and parenteral nutrition orders in coordination with patients' providers • Represent clinical nutrition at multidisciplinary committees, task forces, and project groups • Participate in performance improvement initiatives

🎯 Requirements

• 0-1 years to include supervised practice experiences or on the job experiences • Completion of an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) approved program • Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition or related field • Knowledge of foods/nutrition; food preparation; production; supervisory/instructional techniques • Required Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN) Certification through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), or recent supervised practice program graduate who must obtain RDN certification within 90 days of starting • Pennsylvania State Licensure of Dietician-Nutritionist (LDN), or must obtain Pennsylvania LDN within 6 months of starting • Completion of ACEND accredited, supervised practice program • Full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye–hand coordination • Standing and walking frequently and occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds • Consistently sitting and working at a computer • Ability to operate standard nursing equipment • Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical setting • Some travel within western North Carolina • Fluency in Spanish is preferred
