📋 Description

• Administer and maintain database systems supporting AAO applications • Modernize and transform enterprise business solutions for NASA • Work with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL platforms • Install, configure, upgrade, migrate, provision, secure and patch enterprise database systems • Perform database backup and recovery • Support high-availability and disaster-recovery database architectures • Work with diverse platforms, applications and infrastructure spanning the Agency • Engage with Enterprise Applications stakeholders and end-user communities • Collaborate with other DBAs to troubleshoot and resolve complex database problems • Participate in an on-call DBA rotation and respond to trouble tickets within SLA requirements

🎯 Requirements

• Solid knowledge in database design, development and integration principles • Fundamental knowledge of database administration best practices and techniques • Experience supporting mission-critical database management systems • Understanding of ANSI Standard SQL constructs for Database Administration • Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, migrating, provisioning, securing, patching, backing up and recovering enterprise database systems • Conceptual knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) database architectures • Good understanding of networking concepts and principles in a client/server database environment • Experience with Unix, PowerShell or other scripting language • Good communication, presentation, documentation and organizational skills • Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment • Schedule flexibility to support on-call DBA rotation and respond to trouble tickets within SLA requirements • Preferred experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL or PostgreSQL databases in single-instance or clustered configurations • Experience configuring and supporting MS SQL Availability Groups (AGs), Distributed Availability Groups (DAGs), Oracle Data Guard, and MySQL master-slave replication • Demonstrated experience using Oracle SQL, PL/SQL and MS T-SQL • Experience with Oracle SQL Developer, TOAD, MS SQL Workbench, SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) is a plus • Knowledge of configuring Oracle Net Services • Familiarity and/or experience with Oracle RMAN, DataPump and Data Guard • Experience with Red Hat Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems on VMware • Understanding of database consolidation and virtualization concepts and best practices • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NASA Public Trust background investigation • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience, with equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree • 6–8 years of Database Administrator experience • Automation using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript or batch files • Experience working in VMware ESXi environments • Experience with network storage (SAN/NAS) • Experience with enterprise backup solutions • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and operational needs
