📋 Description

• Counsel the business on laws and regulations affecting customers’ clinical service delivery, including privacy, security, health information exchange, payment rules, fraud, waste and abuse prevention, and quality-program reporting • Monitor, analyze, and advise on AI-related legislation, regulations, and guidance at federal, state, and international levels • Serve on the AI governance team and advise product, engineering, and business teams on compliance obligations and risk mitigation • Develop and maintain internal AI governance frameworks, policies, and procedures • Collaborate with data science, engineering, product, and public policy teams throughout the AI development lifecycle • Educate stakeholders on risk-management principles and organizational compliance programming • Advise on HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, federally funded value-based care programs, electronic health record technology certification, clinical specialties, and applicable state laws • Review and interpret federal rulemaking and guidance from agencies including CMS, ONC, and OIG • Design and implement compliance programs based on regulatory guidance • Research emerging regulatory changes and case law relevant to athenahealth and the healthcare technology industry • Independently investigate compliance issues, internal investigations, and corrective actions • Monitor policy developments relevant to healthcare technology products and services

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of regulatory legal experience at a healthcare or technology company, a mid to large-sized law firm, and/or in government • J.D. from a well-recognized law school • Excellent academic credentials • Admitted to a U.S. state bar in good standing • Project management experience • Experience coordinating work across a cross-functional group of attorneys and business stakeholders across an enterprise • Experience drafting organizational policies and procedures related to healthcare regulations • Experience providing legal and strategic guidance on risk assessment and mitigation • Experience with FDA and similar electronic prescribing guidelines and requirements • Experience with Medicare reimbursement, audit, and billing requirements • Broad-based healthcare compliance programming experience, including HCCA or similar certification is highly desirable
