Author Health is a coordinated behavioral healthcare provider that delivers team-based mental health and care management services for people with complex mental health needs, including dementia, severe depression and anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders. They combine virtual psychiatry, nurse practitioners, licensed clinical social workers, and in-person care managers to integrate clinical care with community services and insurance partners (including Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans), focusing on whole-person care, HIPAA-compliant information sharing, and improved quality of life.

📋 Description

• Own the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close, and accuracy of financial statements • Maintain, document, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls • Build a documented, repeatable close process • Own revenue recognition across fee-for-service, PMPM, and value-based arrangements • Ensure financial reporting reconciles reliably from source systems to reports • Lead the annual budget and forecast process and report significant variances to management • Build dashboards and reporting to provide real-time insight into results and variances • Provide financial analysis for capital investment decisions, pricing, and contract negotiations • Maintain audit-ready workpapers and controls and serve as primary contact for the annual audit • Lead administration of the third-party payroll provider relationship • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal accounting and financial-reporting requirements • Partner with Finance leadership to elevate reporting and analytics capabilities • Build, mentor, and grow the accounting function as headcount and transaction volume increase

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required • Eight or more years of related accounting experience required • Deep command of GAAP accounting • Familiarity with revenue recognition across multiple streams in a multi-payer healthcare environment • Proficiency in accounting and financial reporting software • Hands-on experience with Business Central (Dynamics 365) • Comfortable building dashboards and reporting in tools such as Looker • Analytical and data-driven approach to financial information and reporting • Experience operating in a fast-moving, early-stage environment • Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders across the organization • Ability to shape a still-forming role and work independently • Results-driven with strong written and oral presentation skills • Commitment to compliance and Author's verify-first model • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now Payroll preferred • CPA preferred • Healthcare industry knowledge preferred, ideally including MSO-PC structures, physician-practice revenue reconciliation, value-based payment models, and Medicare Advantage plans
