📋 Description

• Collaborate with product leaders to explore possibilities and prototype aggressively • Put working software in front of stakeholders early and iterate quickly • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers in code design, systems thinking, and effective AI-agent use • Write backend business logic and extend the API • Integrate with third-party services and build frontend UI • Tackle issues throughout the codebase • Improve system performance and resilience • Upgrade the technology stack and pursue previously impractical projects • Own shipped software in production • Instrument, observe, and debug software • Treat reliability as a first-class feature

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years as a professional software engineer on teams building full-stack cloud-native web applications • Experience ideally with PHP; any object-oriented language is acceptable • Experience with React applications in TypeScript • Experience building well-structured, comprehensible, maintainable software • Experience with MySQL, including PHP-based ORMs and raw SQL • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs • Experience integrating with third-party APIs • Ability to work remotely from the Eastern, Central, or Mountain time zones • Qualified to work in the United States or Canada • Product-minded approach to understanding user problems • Systems-thinking approach • Substantial experience using AI agents on real codebases and identifying model limitations • Strong focus on software quality • Strong writing skills • Ability to lead 1–2 engineers and independently deliver substantial features • Manual dexterity to use a desktop computer and peripherals
