📋 Description

• Manage the full general ledger and month-end and year-end close in QuickBooks Online • Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, deferrals, and intercompany activity • Deliver an accurate, timely close within the target 7–10 business days • Produce reporting packages for leadership and investors • Own AP, AR, payroll accounting, expense management, corporate card programs, and bank reconciliations • Maintain the chart of accounts and GAAP-compliant accounting policies • Account for revenue recognition, royalties, rev-share, capitalized software/game development costs, and stock-based compensation • Track product recoupment and deliver royalty statements to development partners • Account for debt instruments, warrants, debt amendments, and contingent consideration liabilities • Apply CECL to accounts receivable • Manage foreign currency transactions and gain/loss recognition • Design and maintain internal controls and support audit or review processes • Coordinate tax compliance, state registrations, and required filings • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports • Manage lender relationships and covenant compliance reporting • Partner with the CFO and CEO on investor updates, cap table support, fundraising, M&A due diligence, QoE, post-close integration, and publishing deal structures • Evaluate and account for acquisitions under U.S. GAAP • Define, recruit, and hire the first direct report and build the accounting organization • Evaluate systems beyond QuickBooks as the company scales

🎯 Requirements

• CPA preferred; active license in good standing • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time in public accounting and in-house at a high-growth company • Series A/B experience at a high-growth startup • QuickBooks Online expertise • M&A experience, including at least one transaction, financial due diligence, QoE, working capital true-ups, or post-close integration • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including US GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition, capitalized software costs, and stock-based compensation • Experience with debt instrument accounting, including OID, warrants, modifications, and effective interest method • Experience with asset acquisition/business combination accounting • Familiarity with contingent consideration valuation and CECL methodology for accounts receivable • Comfort building, hiring, mentoring, and leading an accounting team • Excellent communication skills for explaining accounting to leadership, boards, and non-finance audiences • Pacific Time Zone preferred • Prior gaming, interactive entertainment, or digital media experience is a bonus • Familiarity with gaming revenue models is a bonus • Experience implementing or migrating to a mid-market ERP is a bonus • Multi-entity or international accounting experience is a bonus
