📋 Description

• Independently investigate, evaluate, and manage professional liability claims from inception through resolution • Analyze coverage issues and determine applicability of policy terms, conditions, and exclusions • Establish and adjust appropriate reserves based on claim developments • Develop and execute claim resolution strategies, including negotiation and settlement • Guide litigation strategy, including discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation • Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as required • Evaluate liability and damages using legal, factual, and industry-specific knowledge • Provide accurate and timely financial forecasting on claims portfolios • Maintain proactive communication with insureds, brokers, and management • Deliver claim updates and coverage determinations • Support underwriting teams with claim insights and loss trends • Ensure claim handling adheres to regulatory requirements, internal guidelines, and best practices • Prepare reports for management, carriers, reinsurers, and auditors • Identify emerging issues, trends, and exposures within the professional liability space • Provide feedback to underwriting and risk management on loss drivers and prevention strategies

🎯 Requirements

• NYS Adjuster License required; multiple states preferred • JD degree preferred • 3-5 years of experience handling professional liability claims • Strong knowledge of claims practices, litigation processes, and insurance coverage • Experience managing complex and/or high-exposure claims • Ability to work independently and make sound judgment decisions • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office suite • Experience in one or more specialty areas (e.g., Education, Public Entity, EPLI, E&O) preferred • Prior litigation experience or legal background preferred • Familiarity with excess and surplus lines or specialty insurance markets preferred • Exposure to reinsurance reporting and complex coverage issues preferred
