📋 Description

• Serve as the patient-facing expert on the rare disease patient journey and liaison for Biogen team members • Engage cross-functional stakeholders to support patients starting and remaining on rare disease therapies • Identify and resolve logistical and non-clinical barriers affecting treatment initiation and ongoing therapy • Support patients and families through disease/product education, site-of-care coordination, payer policy and procedure navigation, and support services • Advocate for patients in cross-functional meetings and maintain accurate case plans • Resolve access barriers involving insurance coverage, reimbursement, financial limitations, site of care, procurement, and distribution • Work with Market Access & Reimbursement teams, payers, specialty pharmacies, and specialty distributors to ensure access • Provide emotional support and collaborate with patients, families, caregivers, healthcare providers, and advocacy partners • Assess patient needs, payer policies, plan designs, Medicaid coverage, and local healthcare systems • Develop and offer solutions, including alternative insurance options and connections to available resources • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about products and Biogen Patient Services • Develop activities promoting openness and understanding of rare disease • Build local rare disease advocacy networks and relationships through events and national conferences • Become an expert on Biogen’s rare disease portfolio and resources to maximize patient/caregiver support

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years’ business experience in the healthcare or biotech industry with at least 3 years field-based experience in account management, sales, and/or field reimbursement • Rare disease experience is preferred • A successful record in field reimbursement, clinical education or in pharmaceutical sales/management of products that required significant payer and reimbursement involvement • Experience with physician-administered drugs (PADs)/biologics and various outpatient sites of service • Comprehensive understanding of field/patient reimbursement, charitable funding, and non-profit organizations • Experience leading cross-functionally and influencing without authority • Case management or experience supporting patients/caregivers directly a plus • Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory environment in biotech industry • Strong EQ, communication, listening skills and empathy skills required • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus • Effective at managing complex individualized cases • Must be comfortable spending 60% of their time traveling • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record according to Biogen policy required • BS required; master’s degree a plus
