📋 Description

• Own significant design projects end-to-end from ideation through execution, launch, and post-release iteration • Make product judgment decisions about scope, sequencing, quality, and when not to ship • Design cohesive interaction flows and interfaces across iOS, Android, and web • Drive and evolve Bluesky’s visual language, design system, and holistic identity • Review real usage, synthesize user feedback, and improve the product • Refine copy, states, hierarchy, accessibility, and interaction polish • Manage a team of 2–4 product designers through 1:1s, performance reviews, goal-setting, and career development • Mentor designers, lead critiques and reviews, hire and onboard talent, and help define design processes • Partner with product and engineering leadership on problems, roadmaps, and strategic tradeoffs • Represent design in cross-functional conversations and champion the user in product direction

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing digital products, with a strong portfolio of shipped work • 3–5 years leading product design for social, platforms, and/or consumer digital products • Experience directly managing designers, including performance reviews, hiring, and career development • Deeply hands-on product design, prototyping, and attention to detail • Strong visual design skills, including layout, typography, and hierarchy • Strong, articulate design point of view and ability to represent design confidently to leadership and cross-functional partners • Deep experience building and evolving scalable design systems • Ability to influence product direction, shape roadmaps, and define what to build and why • Strong user empathy and ability to translate qualitative signal into actionable product insight • High proficiency with Figma, including advanced component and system work, and interactive prototypes • Ability to take feedback and iterate quickly • Portfolio or examples of past work required in cover letter or resume
