• Review and evaluate delinquent, high-risk, or written-off accounts for collections opportunities • Provide collections-related sales and service and advise customers on payment strategies and products • Execute loss mitigation processes for non-performing and high-risk accounts • Develop action plans and solutions to maximize recovery and safeguard the Bank’s interests • Address complex escalated customer requests and transactions • Coach, train, and support Consumer Collections personnel • Build and manage interdependent teams across functional and operating groups • Improve team performance, recognize and reward performance, and manage poor performance • Develop and maintain profitable customer relationships and expand share of wallet • Monitor account and relationship performance against plans • Gather and format data into regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards • Complete report audits and spot checks • Lead change-management programs and operational programs • Design, implement, and manage core business/group processes • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of tools and training • Review programs for effectiveness and recommend enhancements • Identify emerging issues, trends, gaps, and best practices • Provide expertise on collections regulations, policies, strategies, and practices • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to leverage sales, fulfillment, and referral opportunities • Maintain customer and Bank information confidentiality • Support continuous improvement initiatives • Apply BMO’s Risk Management Framework and make risk-informed decisions
• Typically 7+ years of relevant experience • Post-secondary degree in a related field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Knowledge of credit qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills according to established qualification standards • Expert knowledge of federal, state/provincial, and local laws pertaining to Consumer Collections and the functional area • Expert knowledge of BMO products and services • In-depth knowledge of the competitive marketplace and product-offering trends • In-depth negotiation skills • Combination of education, experience, and industry knowledge • In-depth/expert verbal and written communication skills • In-depth/expert analytical and problem-solving skills • In-depth/expert influence skills • In-depth/expert collaboration and team skills, with a focus on cross-group collaboration • Ability to manage ambiguity • In-depth/expert data-driven decision-making skills • Ability to maintain confidentiality of customer and Bank information • Ability to apply applicable laws, regulations, policies, standards, procedures, and BMO’s Risk Management Framework
