📋 Description

• Communicate internal Cardiovascular Research pipeline priorities and align external search, evaluation, and triage activities with BMS Research and Enterprise Cardiovascular Therapeutic Area strategies • Lead the Cardiovascular triage process within Integrative Sciences • Identify, evaluate, and advance academic collaborations, biotech partnerships, platform technologies, and pre-IND or IND-stage assets • Form and lead cross-functional diligence teams and provide scientific expertise during Business Development reviews and due diligence • Partner with Search & Evaluation and Business Development transaction leads to advance prioritized opportunities • Work with Research Finance to align, capture, and approve activities within Research budgets • Design and execute blended corporate and academic external innovation strategies • Shape opportunities into collaboration plans with objectives, work plans, milestones, governance, decision points, and success measures • Advise on collaboration structures and contract development with Business Development, Legal, and IP • Serve on joint governance committees and oversight bodies with academic and industry partners • Represent Integrative Sciences to BMS organizations, regulatory agencies, investors, partners, and the scientific community • Communicate external research activities and progress to internal clients, partners, and leadership • Compose progress reports and decision documentation for senior management • Deliver presentations and briefings on scientific and organizational activities • Model scientific leadership, collaboration, and an enterprise mindset across Research and Integrative Sciences • Participate in Site Leadership teams and potentially serve as a Board Observer or in other governance roles for external cardiovascular companies

🎯 Requirements

• PhD or equivalent advanced scientific training in cardiovascular biology, cardiometabolic disease, or a related discipline relevant to cardiovascular medicine • 10+ years of drug discovery and/or early development experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry • Deep, hands-on expertise in cardiovascular and cardiometabolic disease • Strong understanding of cardiovascular and cardiometabolic disease biology, including the interaction between the two • Ability to assess external opportunities against BMS Research priorities • Experience evaluating academic collaborations, biotech partnerships, platform technologies, and pre-IND or IND-stage assets • Experience shaping external collaboration plans, including scientific objectives, work plans, milestones, governance structures, decision points, and success measures • Experience negotiating collaboration plans with external partners • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills • Track record of advancing therapeutic programs toward IND stage or beyond • Experience working cross-functionally across Research, Early Development, Business Development, Alliance Management, Legal, IP, Finance, Thematic Research Centers, and Therapeutic Area leadership, or equivalent structures • Strong capability in building productive relationships and maintaining scientifically focused, operationally accountable collaborations • Understanding of financial, legal, contractual, and geographic considerations affecting external research collaborations, including non-U.S. partnerships
