📋 Description

• Lead day-to-day design and development activities for new store construction, remodeling, and other capital projects • Manage projects from preliminary planning, development, and scheduling through final entitlements and permitted construction documents • Ensure on-time completion, adherence to project budgets, and quality execution • Lead and develop teams, including teams based outside the United States • Manage and maintain prototype designs, equipment specifications, and fuel system designs • Develop facility design concepts that provide long-term benefits and improve return on investment • Allocate internal and external resources and supervise design and development team workflows • Manage initial project scope, contract documents, project scheduling, and collaboration with multifunctional teams through turnover • Provide design and development support to bp, Amoco, Thorntons, ampm/ARCO, and TA brands and channels • Manage critical-path design and development strategies for site development while satisfying federal, state, and local municipal requirements • Collaborate with Real Estate Managers on project prioritization and completion of real estate pipeline tasks • Conduct needs assessments and evaluate, select, and prototype equipment and design solutions • Collaborate with associates, consultants, and technical disciplines to develop and analyze project designs • Ensure designs comply with accepted standards and bp safety standards • Develop and maintain brand prototype standards covering civil, structural, MEP, petroleum systems, interior and exterior elevations, and responsibility matrices • Identify design, permitting, utility, signage, landscaping, and construction issues • Support Construction teams with issue resolution and cost control • Prepare accurate bid construction documents • Develop and manage third-party consultants using metrics and tracking systems • Support cost analysis and estimating activities • Promote team member growth, development, and training • Serve on or lead design and development committees • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or comparable field • 10+ years of professional experience in commercial design and development, with an emphasis on retail • Proven experience leading, developing, and motivating high-performing, proactive teams to achieve business objectives and drive continuous improvement • Strong project management and analytical skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general project management software tools • Up to 30–50% travel should be expected with this role • Licensed Architect or Engineer (preferred) • Convenience Store or petroleum experience (preferred) • Commercial construction experience (preferred) • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Revit software (preferred)
