📋 Description

• Provide patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of practice • Perform rooming and visit tasks including vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings • Assist providers with or perform ordered procedures • Perform venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling, packing, lab-order preparation, and results tracking • Conduct point-of-care and CLIA-approved waived laboratory testing • Administer medications and vaccines safely • Process medication refills, insurance authorizations, regulatory logs, patient messages, medication and supply orders, appointments, and referrals • Communicate effectively, collaborate with teammates, and escalate issues appropriately • Maintain clean, stocked, and properly functioning work areas and equipment • Assist with training and onboarding teammates • Serve as a role champion or committee member when assigned • Provide age-appropriate care based on patient status and developmental needs

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, structured clinical military training per DD214, or EMT; some divisions accept 2 years of verifiable full-time Medical Assistant experience within the last 5 years in lieu of a program • Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant • Current American Heart Association BLS certification required for Greater Charlotte and Wake Forest; other divisions require it within 45 days unless determined unnecessary • Current/certified/registered CMA or RMA credential from an accepted national organization • Successful completion of Atrium Health’s competency assessment for applicable divisions • Successful completion of an approved primary trainer program for new teammates in Greater Charlotte • Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within Medical Assistant scope of practice • Proficient computer skills, keyboarding, Windows navigation, email, and exposure to electronic medical records • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Customer service skills supporting a positive patient experience • Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance and perform required physical activities • Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine-hand manipulation skills • Ability to operate required equipment and wear protective equipment when needed
