The FAIR Plan includes dwelling coverage for owner- or tenant-occupied dwellings with up to four family units, as well as commercial coverage for business-owned buildings. The organization helps Californians access necessary fire insurance via licensed brokers and is essentially a temporary insurance solution when coverage is unavailable from traditional insurers.

📋 Description

• Supervise a team of claims examiners investigating property insurance claims for dwelling or commercial losses • Verify coverage and authorize timely payments to policyholders • Review examiner correspondence for accuracy and completeness • Ensure field adjuster work product complies with CFP Independent Adjuster guidelines • Review reserves and provide reserve recommendations • Communicate with examiners and others to secure missing information • Assist with negotiating difficult settlements and ensure settlements reflect insured losses • Evaluate, coach, and lead assigned examiners • Confer with Claims management and/or legal counsel on legal issues or litigation • Document claims activity clearly and concisely • Examine questionable claims and determine payment authorization • Conduct daily diary reviews to ensure timely status letters • Review and approve claims within designated authority • Verify and analyze data used in settling claims • Lead and participate in special projects improving department quality, efficiency, and customer service

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred • Excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills • 2 years of property claims supervisory experience preferred • Experience managing and settling dwelling or homeowners property losses • Experience with claims litigation, appraisal, and mediation • Working experience with MS-Office (especially Word and Excel) is required
