CIEE Council on International Educational Exchange is a nonprofit organization (founded in 1947) that organizes and facilitates international educational and cultural exchange programs. It provides study abroad programs for college and high school students, gap-year and internship placements, TEFL certification and teaching abroad, professional and research exchange, Work & Travel and BridgeUSA programs, and host-family and employer partnerships. CIEE also administers scholarships and safety/onsite support services to help participants travel and study internationally while advancing intercultural understanding and global citizenship.

📋 Description

• Build and manage a growing portfolio of major and leadership gift donors and prospects • Conduct proactive outreach to CIEE alumni and high-net-worth individuals • Move promising relationships from initial contact to meaningful next steps and solicitation • Develop relationships with current donors and qualify new prospects • Create individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies • Secure significant gifts and develop donors toward major-gift support • Leverage the 80th anniversary and matching-gift opportunity to drive engagement and giving • Prepare donor strategies, briefing materials, correspondence, proposals, and related materials • Engage philanthropy leadership, executives, program leaders, alumni, board members, and other partners • Use wealth-screening, donor data, institutional knowledge, and research resources to evaluate prospects • Recommend strategic travel plans for donor engagement • Maintain donor records, contact reports, next steps, gift opportunities, and revenue forecasts in Salesforce • Coordinate with annual giving and alumni engagement teams • Establish and refine qualification, portfolio management, moves management, stewardship, travel, and donor-engagement practices • Identify planned-giving, family foundation, donor-advised fund, corporate, and other opportunities • Contribute to a collaborative fundraising culture and team-based relationship strategy

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience • Seven to ten years of progressively responsible fundraising experience preferred, including substantial individual-giving experience • Proven track record cultivating, soliciting, and closing significant gifts, including five- and six-figure commitments • Experience initiating and developing donor relationships through proactive outreach • Experience building or substantially expanding a donor portfolio • Strong judgment in donor qualification, strategy development, solicitation timing, and use of organizational leaders and partners • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills • Ability to engage high-net-worth individuals and navigate complex relationships • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment • Strong organizational skills and disciplined follow-through • Comfort working toward activity, pipeline, and revenue expectations • Experience using fundraising CRM systems; Salesforce experience strongly preferred • Ability to use donor data, wealth-screening results, and qualitative information to prioritize outreach • Entrepreneurial and practical approach to building systems and improving results • Genuine interest in international education, cultural exchange, and CIEE's mission • Ability to work effectively across cultures and with people from varied backgrounds • Ability to embrace CIEE's Core Values: Excellence, Integrity, Respect, Inclusion, and Problem Solving • Background check, reference check, and education and employment verification required as conditions of employment
