• Preserve and improve the quality and validity of AP Science exams, course curricula, and professional development content • Lead item development and management from authoring through administration across multiple AP Science course titles • Train and collaborate with subject-matter experts, including college professors and secondary school teachers • Integrate AI technologies ethically and effectively into assessment creation and review • Train SMEs on assessment development protocols and translate between academics and psychometricians • Develop formative assessment materials and resources for AP Science teachers worldwide • Serve as a point of contact for AP Science committees and subject-matter-expert communities • Lead assessment development and final approval of items and test forms across two or more test titles • Author and revise assessment content, including training educator contributors • Manage formative and summative assessment content and scoring materials through iterative internal and external review • Lead development of assessment forms aligned with approved curricula and test specifications • Lead face-to-face, weekend, and virtual Test Development Committee meetings • Supervise Test Development Committee members as content contributors and reviewers • Lead annual AP Reading scoring events and produce publications for teachers and students • Contribute to assessment research, best practices, standards, and shared AP assessment principles • Provide cross-subject assessment leadership, training, and mentoring to Course Experts • Improve item development through task models, training processes, documentation, and generative AI • Refine question task models and exam design for AP Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or Physics • Monitor exam validity, security, reliability, fairness, quality, and reader reliability • Establish fair, reliable, and valid cut scores with psychometrics and AP Curriculum & Assessment staff • Train and support Course Experts in assessment development, AI use, item authoring, and item bank platforms • Mentor team members in facilitating test development committees and working with external stakeholders • Refine AP Science Course Frameworks and learning outcomes • Support new AP Science products through prototyping, market testing, and development models
• Master’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science or a related Life Science field, Chemistry, Physics, or a directly related discipline required • Doctorate in the discipline strongly preferred • Sufficient disciplinary breadth to contribute to curriculum and assessment work in at least two of Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, and Physics • At least 10 years of experience in standardized assessment development required • Current knowledge of trends in at least one listed discipline • Demonstrated ability to apply disciplinary expertise across at least two AP Science courses • Experience with digital assessment and teaching in one or more listed disciplines preferred • Strong oral and written communication skills • Solid technical proficiency and customer-focused mindset • Excellent organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, and proofreading ability • Ability to implement processes and procedures, manage project plans and schedules, and maintain tracking documentation • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills • Ability to travel 6–8 times per year, plus up to two additional weeks for the AP Reading • Must be eligible and authorized to work in the United States • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies and willingness to adopt AI-driven solutions • Comfort learning and applying new digital tools independently and proactively • Learner’s mindset and commitment to growth • Ability to make data-informed decisions and solve complex problems
