📋 Description

• Preserve and improve the quality and validity of AP US History and African American Studies exams, course curricula, and professional development content • Lead assessment development and final approval of items and test forms across multiple course titles • Author, revise, review, and manage formative and summative assessment content and scoring materials • Use generative AI appropriately in assessment authoring and review • Train and collaborate with subject-matter experts, including college professors and secondary school teachers • Lead Test Development Committee meetings and supervise committee members • Lead annual AP Reading scoring events in person and online • Produce AP Reading publications for teachers and students • Monitor exam validity, security, reliability, fairness, quality, and reader reliability • Establish fair, reliable, and valid cut scores with psychometrics and AP Curriculum & Assessment staff • Provide functional leadership, training, mentoring, and consultation to course experts • Improve item development task models, exam design, and assessment processes • Refine AP US History and African American Studies course frameworks and learning outcomes • Collaborate on new products and instructional resources addressing teacher needs • Present, speak, and moderate dialogue with academic and membership audiences as needed

🎯 Requirements

• Master’s degree in US History, African American Studies, or a directly related discipline (required) • Knowledge of current trends in the discipline • Expertise in US History and African American Studies • At least 10 years of experience in standardized assessment development or related work • Experience with digital assessment and teaching preferred • Strong oral and written communication skills • Solid technical proficiency and customer-focused mindset • Excellent organizational and planning skills • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain close attention to detail, including proofreading • Demonstrated ability to implement processes and procedures • Ability to manage project plans and schedules and maintain tracking documentation • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills • Ability to work effectively across all levels and engage in constructive feedback • Ability to travel 6–8 times per year, plus up to two additional weeks for the AP Reading • Must be eligible and authorized to work in the United States • Passion for expanding educational and career opportunities and mission-driven work • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies and willingness to adopt AI-driven solutions • Comfort learning and applying new digital tools independently and proactively • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills • Learner’s mindset and commitment to growth • Drive for impact and excellence • Collaborative and empathetic approach
