📋 Description

• Investigate, manage, respond to, and escalate security alerts from platforms such as EDR/XDR and SIEM • Analyze security events escalated from tier 1, validate threats, and respond accordingly • Investigate and respond to reported phishing emails • Analyze, prioritize, and track vulnerabilities detected by vulnerability scanners • Research emerging threats and perform global threat hunts using industry data and threat feeds • Conduct incident response procedures, investigate indicators of compromise, identify root causes, collect evidence, and draft incident response reports • Collaborate with security analysts, compliance analysts, Compass engineers, and vCISOs to provide managed security services • Interface directly with clients and end users when investigating threats and managing or troubleshooting managed security tools • Assist in deploying the managed security services tool stack to new clients • Assist with internal quality projects, including developing standards and security services • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements • Hunt for emerging threats using SIEM querying, software testing, sandboxing, and other methods • Translate threat-hunt results into actionable alerts and analysis SOPs • Create and maintain internal standard operating procedures • Participate in a flexible work schedule including after-hours/on-call shifts

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a SOC/incident response role • Demonstrated experience conducting alert and incident investigations end-to-end with minimal oversight and sound escalation judgment • Ability to perform containment, blocking, isolation, and basic remediation in small and mid-sized business environments • Experience monitoring and responding to threats impacting Windows, Microsoft 365 / Entra ID, and firewalls • Familiarity and comfort working across EDR, firewall administration, identity and email security consoles, ticketing systems, RMM tools, and security telemetry sources • Preferred additional experience in infrastructure recovery and IT engineering • Preferred additional experience in network, cloud, and endpoint recovery • Preferred additional experience in firewall, VPN, and zero-trust environments • Preferred additional experience in backup validation and isolated recovery environments • Preferred additional experience in Active Directory, virtual hosts, domain controllers, migrations, and secure system restoration • Preferred additional experience in endpoint wipe-and-reload and related rebuild activities
