• Virtually assist students and guardians/Learning Coaches with course selection and scheduling • Serve as the initial point of contact for student concerns spanning multiple subject areas and non-academic issues • Become an expert on course and credit requirements and work with the School Counselor to establish counseling processes for middle and high school students • Make welcome calls to new students and keep grade-level teachers informed of enrollments • Monitor grade-level escalation, contacts, participation, attendance, and truancy • Communicate attendance expectations to caretakers and make attendance adjustments as necessary • Advise students and families on academics, career planning, and graduation • Assist with course selection and development of four-year graduation plans • Advise students on dropping courses and changing schedules while following school policies • Obtain and forward student records with administrative assistants and previous schools • Help families access school and community resources • Assist with Academic Plans • Implement programs addressing interpersonal adjustment issues • Participate in crisis prevention and management planning and serve on the Student Support Team • Identify students who are at risk or in crisis and act as the main contact for them and their families • Maintain each student's Personal Learning Plan • Secure complete and accurate student records • Support families through the withdrawal process and collect withdrawal data • Report and refer critical incidents according to legal, administrative, and ethical requirements • Assist teachers with mid-semester enrollments and integration of prior grades, credits, and evaluations • Support professional development activities for teachers and staff • Assist with proctoring and monitoring participation in required state tests • Perform other duties as assigned
• Michigan teacher certification preferred, but not required by MDE • Michigan Residency preferred • Strong technology skills, especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Highly organized and punctual • Student- and family-focused approach • High degree of flexibility • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment • Track record as a team player • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and diverse community members • Travel to and attendance at in-person events, including State Testing, required throughout the school year; overnight travel may be required • Ability to work some occasional evening hours as needed • Ability to work remotely if necessary • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and email address for two-step authentication
