Connections Academy is a tuition-free, accredited K–12 online public school program operated by Connections Education (a Pearson division). It delivers state-aligned curriculum and virtual classroom experiences with certified teachers, personalized learning, and support for families serving as learning coaches. The program offers grade-level courses, college and career readiness, clubs and socialization opportunities, and technology support across multiple U. S. states.

📋 Description

• Provide asynchronous and synchronous virtual instruction in whole-group, small-group, and 1-to-1 settings • Complete grading, lesson preparation, and student and learning coach communications within required timeframes • Review curriculum and assigned courses, maintain detailed content knowledge, and develop alternate lesson approaches • Support students and learning coaches with daily assignments and strategies to drive course completion and success • Adhere to and support IEP and Section 504 Plans • Develop methods and activities to foster and maintain a virtual school community • Collaborate daily with school staff using online meeting, communication, and LMS tools • Communicate regularly with learning coaches and students by computer and telephone • Serve as a Homeroom teacher and primary point of contact for assigned students • Maintain up-to-date student records and data, including attendance and contact logs • Proctor and support state testing assignments • Attend field trips and other community activities • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Valid North Carolina Teaching License with certification in Business appropriate to grade level and course responsibilities • North Carolina residency preferred • Valid driver’s license or state-issued identification card • Availability to work full-time, 8am–4pm Monday through Friday • Strong interpersonal skills for working with students, parents, staff, and diverse community members • Strong technology skills, especially Google Suite • Virtual experience preferred • Ability to create a positive, equitable, student-centered environment • Customer-focused approach • High degree of flexibility • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment • Willingness and ability to travel for meetings, training, graduation, field trips, and state testing events, potentially overnight • Ability to work occasional evening hours as needed • Two-step authentication required to access systems if hired
