Connections Academy is a tuition-free, accredited K–12 online public school program operated by Connections Education (a Pearson division). It delivers state-aligned curriculum and virtual classroom experiences with certified teachers, personalized learning, and support for families serving as learning coaches. The program offers grade-level courses, college and career readiness, clubs and socialization opportunities, and technology support across multiple U. S. states.

📋 Description

• Provide virtual academic, college/career, and personal/social counseling services to identified students • Assist with Individual Graduation Plan meetings, scheduling, and administrative tasks • Implement components of the ASCA National Model best practices • Deliver an annual Needs Assessment to staff, parents, and students • Participate in the Advisory Council for school counseling • Complete a Use of Time analysis for one week each semester • Provide guidance instruction focused on ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors • Identify students needing intervention and deliver individual Solution-Focused Brief Counseling and small group support • Help students research and understand post-secondary career and educational options • Hold Individual Graduation Plan meetings and complete course selection for the student caseload • Follow procedures for dropping courses and changing schedules • Understand requirements for EOC, Career Readiness, PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP exams • Support on-time graduation for off-cohort or off-track students • Review Senior Transcripts and Schedules and process successful Graduates upon completion of requirements • Help families access school and community resources • Consult with staff regarding student welfare concerns • Report and refer critical incidents affecting student well-being and stay current on reporting regulations • Support professional development activities for teachers and school staff • Assist in coordinating Career Day, College Tours, and other school counseling activities • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• South Carolina School Counselor certificate • Master's degree in School Counseling • Experience working with high school students, including Seniors • Extensive knowledge and familiarity with South Carolina colleges, scholarships, and high school guidance via the Uniform Grading Policy and Activity Coding System • Strong technology skills, especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to work effectively as a team member • Willingness to travel on occasion for school events and state testing, with possible occasional overnight travel • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and email address for 2-step authentication
