📋 Description

• Own the editorial standard for the federal corrections training modernization program • Plan, manage, and coordinate documentation across the full project lifecycle • Write, edit, and rewrite complex technical material, including lesson plans, facilitator and participant guides, systems and program documentation, user manuals, and reports • Collect and interpret technical data and work with subject matter experts to confirm accuracy • Produce technical illustrations for training and presentations • Ensure deliverables conform to industry standards and quality requirements • Manage document layout and production • Translate complex information into clear, concise content for varied audiences • Make written products consistent, correct, and ready for federal customer review to a zero-corrections standard • Coordinate editorial quality across products produced by instructional designers, a graphic designer, and an accessibility tester

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English, communications, technical communication, journalism, or a related field • Five or more years of technical writing and editing experience • Experience producing documentation for review and formal acceptance by a customer • Demonstrated ability to maintain a single editorial standard across products written by multiple authors • Strong working command of document layout and production in standard productivity software • Availability during core hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday, within an agreed part-time schedule • Training or curriculum documentation experience, including lesson plans, facilitator guides, participant materials, or job aids • Corrections, law enforcement, or public safety subject matter experience • Familiarity with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 Level AA as they apply to documents • Experience on a federal contract with a documented comment-resolution cycle • Position contingent on contract award and any required background or suitability screening
