📋 Description

• Serve as the subject matter expert for specific payers and stay up to date on their claims processes and coding requirements • Work assigned denials, clearinghouse errors and edits, and other special projects • Review and resolve outstanding or pending insurance claims and account balances directly with payers • Follow up frequently with payers via telephone, fax, email, and payer websites • Resolve claim rejections in Realmed/Availity • Process insurance correspondence as assigned • Research credit balances and, when appropriate, send them to the refund department • Update and track payer guidelines and educate the company on changes • Assist Patient Services with statement requests, itemized bills, and other research • Maintain company production and QA standards • Perform other related duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• High school Diploma or equivalent • 2+ years of experience in medical insurance coordination/collections, specifically in the area of Pathology • Moderate understanding of the billing and collections processes, including the HCFA 1500 and UB4 • Strong knowledge of insurance payers, including Medicare/Medicaid • Ability to interpret insurance explanation of benefits (EOBs) • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, particularly pathology • Proven knowledge of CPT4, ICD10 and HCPCS coding • Strong hospital knowledge is a plus • NextGen Practice Management experience is a plus • Availity/Realmed or similar system experience is a plus • Ability to multi-task • Detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills • Proficient in MS Word and Excel • Self-sufficient and able to work independently in a remote environment • Willingness to help others and be a team player • Ability to interpret insurance explanation of benefits • Must work within 7am-6pm EST, Monday-Friday • Able to meet the physical demands of the role, including long periods of sitting, frequent standing/walking, repetitive motions, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 10 lbs.
