📋 Description

• Set and drive the technical roadmap for Demandbase's Internal Developer Platform • Author and review RFCs and design documents adopted by other teams • Act as architecture reviewer for infrastructure-impacting changes across the organization • Serve as escalation point for highest-severity production incidents involving platform infrastructure • Lead retrospectives and convert findings into structural fixes • Mentor senior and staff-level engineers across teams • Own and evolve the Internal Developer Platform, including Backstage catalogs, golden-path scaffolder templates, and CI/CD components • Partner with software, data, security, and product engineering leadership to resolve systemic SDLC friction through automation and platform abstraction • Define, evaluate, pilot, and roll out safe AI-assisted development workflows • Own CI/CD orchestration architecture using GitLab CI/CD and shared CI/CD components • Standardize build, test, and deployment patterns across application and data workloads • Own and evolve GitOps-based deployment strategy • Own architecture and lifecycle of multi-cluster Kubernetes platforms across environments, including EKS, GKE, upgrades, Karpenter, networking, and security posture • Own multi-account cloud IAM, networking, and security architecture • Drive Terraform and Crossplane Infrastructure-as-Code strategy • Own Istio service mesh architecture across multi-cluster environments • Own core platform components including GitOps tooling, secrets management, and service mesh as production systems • Own observability platform strategy using Prometheus, Datadog, Grafana, Loki, Mimir, and Thanos • Own FinOps practice for platform infrastructure, including cost visibility, unit economics, and waste reduction • Define and evolve organization-wide SLIs/SLOs and incident response practices • Lead blameless postmortem culture at the organizational level

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of overall engineering experience • Meaningful hands-on software development experience with Go, Python, or Java • 7+ years building and operating cloud infrastructure at scale • Demonstrated technical leadership across multiple teams, including cross-team RFCs, architecture decisions, or platform strategy • Deep hands-on experience designing and operating multi-account, multi-cluster Kubernetes platforms in production using EKS and/or GKE at meaningful scale • Strong proficiency with Terraform and Crossplane • Strong proficiency with GitOps practices using Flux or Argo CD • Deep experience designing and owning CI/CD systems; GitLab CI/CD preferred • Hands-on experience with Istio service mesh in multi-cluster environments, including security and traffic policy • Strong experience building and owning observability platforms using Prometheus, Datadog, Grafana, Loki/Mimir/Thanos • Working knowledge of container and software supply-chain security practices, including image scanning, hardened base images, and vulnerability remediation • Experience owning or meaningfully contributing to cloud cost governance or FinOps • Fluency with AI-assisted or agentic development tooling such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex • Solid understanding of SLIs, SLOs, alerting strategy, and incident response • Experience leading blameless postmortems • Excellent written and verbal communication • Experience supporting data pipeline or batch platforms such as Airflow, EMR, or Dataproc is a plus • Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States • Must provide specific United States work authorization status • Must answer application questions about personally owned platforms and Kubernetes/cloud platforms
