📋 Description

• Serve as a scientific authority and leader for the science team • Own scientific projects and areas end to end, defining scope, scientific requirements, and high-quality deliverables with minimal direction • Represent Drug Hunter’s scientific strengths to expert audiences externally • Produce expert-level insight in unfamiliar scientific domains and critically review adjacent-field work • Make independent decisions on deliverable requirements, publishable scientific claims, and relevance • Deliver external presentations and talks and answer expert questions in real time • Partner with product development, engineering, and commercial functions to shape plans and roadmaps • Translate scientific judgment and insight into business decisions • Develop earlier-career scientists through structured review, feedback, and example • Lead projects, set direction, unblock activities, and take accountability for team output • Potentially manage 1–2 direct reports, including hiring, development plans, feedback, performance assessment, workload, and growth • Replan project areas when priorities or rationale shift and propose new plans • Take on novel responsibilities to advance team and company objectives

🎯 Requirements

• Ph.D. degree in a relevant scientific area • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Fluency in English • Typically 6+ years of post-Ph.D./postdoctoral experience, ideally in relevant industry settings • Recognized internal authority in at least one scientific area or discipline, with credible working coverage of adjacent areas • Able to enter unfamiliar scientific domains and produce expert-level insight within days and critically review works from adjacent fields • Demonstrates strong scientific judgment and reasoning • Easily catches subtle scientific and technical errors and issues • Completes assigned work in areas of authority in a timely manner with high quality and scientific accuracy • Confidently delivers external presentations, talks, and fields expert questions in areas of authority • Operates as a scientific partner to product development, engineering, and commercial functions • Translates scientific judgment and insight into business decisions • Maintains an external scientific network and reputation • Actively develops earlier-career scientists and contributors • Leads projects staffed with other scientists • Able to take accountability and ownership of project areas, defining scope and priorities and delivering results without direction on “how” • Able to replan areas of responsibility when priorities or rationale shift • Able to move into new domains, formats, or programs routinely • Able to take on novel responsibilities as needed
