📋 Description

• Perform transmission planning studies covering transient stability, power flow, transfer capability, reliability, short-circuit, economic dispatch, and electromagnetic analyses • Engage directly with clients to determine study goals, create project methodologies, and define deliverables • Direct project execution, including analysis and engineering, staffing plan development, deliverables, quality management, and schedule • Lead consultants and engineers to meet study objectives and deliver practical, viable results • Develop study reports documenting assumptions, methodology, and findings • Partner with project managers to direct technical execution of projects • Manage and support on-the-job training for less practiced team members • Support project managers in business development pursuits • Manage multiple projects concurrently and identify critical path items to meet deliverable deadlines • Evaluate, select, adapt, and modify engineering techniques for transmission system planning • Lead, educate, and train engineers and analysts on renewable generation studies and design efforts • Provide engineering analysis and assessments for power delivery utilities • Collaborate with independent transmission providers, municipal electric utilities, electric cooperatives, and investor-owned utilities

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering field or a related degree from an accredited program • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in electric utility operations, planning, or consulting • Understanding of transmission system planning processes and electric transmission systems • Familiarity with power system planning and operations; transient stability, short-circuit, and voltage analysis; NERC, FERC, and regional requirements, policies, and procedures; production costing; risk assessment techniques; transmission planning (TPL) compliance; generator interconnection; and harmonics analysis • Strong competency in industry software including PSS/E • Developed expertise to independently perform a transmission system planning study • Experience developing study reports documenting study assumptions and findings • Knowledge of NERC and FERC standards • Knowledge of power regions and ISOs such as MISO, ERCOT, PJM, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, NYISO, and ISO-NE • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) • Ability to travel up to 10% • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the US or Canada • No employment visa or Labour Market Impact Assessment sponsorship available • Preferred: master’s degree in engineering with two years of related experience, or Ph.D. in engineering with one year of related experience • Preferred: competency in TARA, Aspen, EasyPower, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD, or PROMOD • Preferred: experience with generator interconnection and harmonics analysis • Preferred: experience with production costing and risk assessment techniques
