• Serve as a field-facing representative of US Medical Affairs • Exchange scientific, medical, and other information with healthcare providers, researchers, professional organization leadership, and population-based decision makers • Understand customer needs, issues, and priorities in relation to Eisai’s strategic business plan • Bring field insights on research developments, treatment landscapes, and new medical treatment concepts • Communicate key information about Eisai and its human health care mission • Provide scientific and clinical information about Eisai products • Facilitate communication between Eisai Research and the medical community regarding future research ideas • Provide leadership through strategic thinking, special projects, coaching, and mentoring • Act as the primary clinical/scientific resource to HCPs in the territory • Serve as a conduit for clinical, scientific, and medical information between KOLs/investigators and Medical Affairs and development groups • Establish and maintain peer relationships with KOLs • Conduct scientific exchanges with KOLs • Present clinical, scientific, and economic data to population-based decision-makers • Support and potentially lead professional congress coverage • Identify and report scientific, clinical, and research insights from KOLs • Develop and present territory plans supporting Medical Affairs strategy • Maintain current knowledge of disease states, study methodology, clinical information, and product data • Execute approved medical platforms, strategies, and MSL initiatives • Serve as a technical/scientific resource to commercial personnel when requested • Teach, coach, and mentor less experienced MSLs; assist with supervision and performance evaluation • Facilitate review and follow-up of Investigator-Initiated Studies and assist with Eisai-sponsored trials • Serve as primary contact for external investigators submitting Investigator-Initiated Studies • Provide recommendations for site selection and scientific expertise for sponsored post-marketing studies • Lead field medical efforts supporting professional organizations, societies, and advocacy groups
• Advanced, terminal Doctorate level (D-level) degree in medical or health sciences (e.g. MD, PhD, PharmD, DPH, EdD) • For MSL: 0–3 years of experience in the pharma/biotech industry, clinical pharmacist, research, or related experience in a scientific or clinical setting, preferably as MSL • For Sr. MSL: minimum of 3 years MSL experience in Oncology/Hematology • Strong broad-based scientific and pharmaceutical knowledge • Knowledge of treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, FDA regulations, and OIG guidelines • Knowledge and experience within Eisai desired therapeutic areas • Established relationships with key opinion leaders and knowledge of relevant institutions • Excellent presentation and teaching skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to assess issues and think strategically • Cross-functional working experience • Ability to anticipate, organize, plan, and handle multiple changing priorities • Ability to work independently while adhering to Medical Affairs strategic direction • Ability and interest in coaching and mentoring less experienced MSLs • Ability to lead and motivate team members without a direct reporting relationship • Ability to lead and participate in projects while balancing projects with field work • Ability to analyze complex situations and solve cross-functional problems • Sound computer skills, including word processing, slide materials, and spreadsheets • Previous established relationships with KOLs in Oncology/Hematology • Understanding of the pharmaceutical corporate environment and commercial operations • Ability to engage in frequent business travel (approximately 60%), including air travel, overnight travel, and occasional weekend travel • Ability to travel domestically and internationally • Valid driver’s license • Ability to set up a home-based office • Ability to engage in person with HCPs and other third parties regularly • May be required to complete third-party credentialing and/or entry requirements, including vaccination attestations or proof • Work authorization verification through E-Verify for new hires in the United States
