📋 Description

• Develop and execute strategy and advise senior leadership and the business on litigation, policy engagement, and advocacy concerning laws, regulations, and trends shaping the pharmaceutical industry • Identify and assess affirmative litigation and advocacy opportunities advancing Lilly’s policy objectives • Provide litigation counsel to Government Affairs, Communications, Regulatory Affairs, Lilly Value and Access on legal policy and strategy priorities • Draft and review communications, comment letters, and related materials • Manage litigation, government investigations, and disputes from strategy through resolution • Lead and manage outside counsel, including budgets and internal coordination • Engage government agencies, state attorneys general, trade associations, industry, and outside policy and counsel networks • Build and maintain relationships across Lilly’s legal and business functions • Monitor and analyze litigation, enforcement, and policy developments affecting drug pricing, access, and reimbursement • Report to the Associate Vice President, Assistant General Counsel – Litigation, Legal Policy & Strategy

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and J.D. • Active license to practice law • A clerkship on a federal court of appeals • A minimum of 8 years of experience as a practicing attorney, including managing complex litigation and developing and executing strategy at a global company and/or top law firm • Proven track record of success in complex litigation at both trial and appellate levels, including discovery, dispositive motions, trial, briefing, and arguing appeals • Experience litigating constitutional claims, statutory and regulatory challenges, and APA matters • Demonstrated experience engaging on complex policy issues and mastering complex new subject matter quickly • Strong client-service orientation and executive presence • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills across company levels • Authorization to work full-time in the United States; Lilly will not sponsor work authorization or visas • Preferred: experience litigating class actions, healthcare program matters involving Medicare, Medicaid, or 340B, and fraud and abuse laws such as AKS and False Claims Act • Preferred: experience managing litigation within the pharmaceutical or another highly regulated industry • Enthusiasm for using artificial intelligence and emerging technology in litigation and legal practice • Demonstrated leadership and effectiveness with senior leadership • Good judgment and meticulous attention to detail • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence others • Ability to handle highly confidential information appropriately
