📋 Description

• Help high school students through the college admissions process • Create academic and extracurricular road maps • Provide college application structure and feedback • Assist with passion discovery and early career development • Advise on extracurriculars, leadership opportunities, summer plans, internships, competitions, research, and community service • Create standardized testing plans and recommend appropriate tests • Create college lists and classify colleges as reach, target, or safety • Offer guidance on college visits • Guide students through personal statements, activities, resumes, recommendation letters, essays, and complete application materials • Strategize early action, early decision, regular decision, waitlist, and college choice approaches • Discuss financial aid and merit scholarship resources • Prepare for sessions, log sessions, maintain communication with students and parents, and include parents in communications • Attend monthly team meetings • Monitor Empowerly email and Slack communications • Keep current with college admission changes • Be available for approximately 20–25 students, with flexibility based on schedule and bandwidth

🎯 Requirements

• Graduate from a top 50 national university • Advanced degrees such as MD, PhD, MBA, JD, or Masters are a plus • Experience as a college counselor for high school students, with a track record of acceptances into a top 50 national university • Consistent availability in the afternoons (after 3:00 p.m.) and/or on weekends • Passion for education, talent for teaching, essay writing, and essay editing • Exceptional oral and written communication skills • Ability to plan around and meet deadlines • Dedication to client service • Ability to commit to students for multi-year packages • STEM expertise, including pre-medicine, engineering, or computer science • Ability to support transfer, undergraduate, postgraduate, and international students
