📋 Description

• Act as a subject matter expert educating, training, and developing or revising CDI processes • Implement and continuously develop onboarding for new Clinical Documentation Specialists • Lead and coordinate training for new CDI staff • Collaborate with CDI leadership and clinicians on orientation content, educational materials, and training resources • Formulate customized one-to-one and group education for CDSs, coders, providers, nursing, dietary, Quality, and other healthcare professionals • Interact with medical staff, directors, and senior hospital leadership as needed • Recommend documentation improvements and compliant queries to capture care intensity supported by the medical record • Educate CDI team members and providers on CDI review functions, goals, regulatory compliance, policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures • Develop and maintain system CDI policies and procedures • Remain current on CDI guidelines, coding information, and coding clinics • Serve as a resource for accurate and ethical documentation standards and regulatory requirements • Draft compliant queries endorsed by AHIMA and ACDIS • Perform medical record reviews for completeness, severity of illness, risk of mortality, and clinical validation • Determine whether professionally recognized standards of quality care are met • Audit CDSs and develop individual educational plans based on quality audit outcomes • Provide one-to-one mentoring as needed • Oversee and coordinate SMART-related education, meetings, and departmental requirements

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years related experience with clinical documentation and/or coding • Experience with multiple EMRs, including Epic, Meditech, and Cerner • Detail oriented and self-motivated • Strong organizational skills • Excellent speaking and presentation skills • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including creation of PowerPoint presentations • Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience • MD or RN licensure required • At least one current professional certification: CCS, CPC, CPMA, RHIA, or RHIT • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) completion within 9 months of hire • Must reside in and be authorized to work within the United States • Must be willing and able to travel to and work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate office locations as business needs require
