📋 Description

• Manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations • Lead monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and allocations • Maintain general ledger integrity and accurate transaction classification under GAAP, organizational policies, and funding requirements • Prepare monthly financial statements, cash flow reports, and management reports • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, billings, collections, and reconciliations • Prepare and review bank and balance-sheet-account reconciliations • Oversee payroll accounting and personnel-cost recording and allocation • Support cash-flow monitoring and treasury activities • Coordinate annual financial statement audits and other financial reviews • Liaise with external auditors and coordinate audit requirements • Coordinate tax and regulatory filings, including Forms 1099 and 1096 • Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation • Support annual budgets, rolling forecasts, cash-flow projections, and long-term financial plans • Analyze budget-to-actual results, trends, and variances • Support scenario planning and financial analysis for resource allocation and decision-making • Oversee financial management of grants and contracts, including restricted and unrestricted funding • Review grant and contract expenditures for allowability, allocation, budget availability, and compliance • Oversee personnel and shared-cost allocations • Monitor grant and contract budgets and spending and communicate financial risks • Collaborate with Business Development and Program teams on proposals, budgets, amendments, and financial reporting • Provide guidance and training on grant and contract financial requirements and allocation processes • Build cross-functional relationships and advise staff on accounting, budgeting, grant management, and financial processes • Translate complex financial information into practical guidance • Maintain and improve accounting systems, workflows, policies, procedures, and internal controls • Support implementation, integration, and optimization of financial systems • Identify automation and data-quality improvements

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive accounting and financial management experience • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles • Experience with restricted funding, grant and contract accounting, functional expense reporting, and cost allocations • Experience leading month-end and year-end close processes • Experience preparing accurate financial statements and management reports • Experience supporting annual financial statement audits and preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation • Experience with grant and contract financial management, including budgeting, expenditure monitoring, cost allocations, personnel time allocation, and funder reporting requirements • Strong understanding of internal controls and experience improving accounting processes, policies, systems, and workflows • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel • Experience working with cloud-based accounting and financial systems • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Collaborative and service-oriented approach • Strong organizational and time-management skills • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment • Ability to work during Eastern Time Zone business hours • CPA or advanced degree preferred • Experience with Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Paylocity, Martus, or similar platforms preferred
