📋 Description

• Develop advanced methods, algorithms, and software tools for synchrophasor-based applications supporting real-time transmission system operations • Conduct modeling, simulation, and analysis of large-scale power systems with high penetrations of inverter-based resources and emerging load technologies • Perform power system dynamic studies using PSS®E and PSCAD • Analyze field-recorded measurement data and support event, disturbance, and post-contingency investigations • Conduct technical literature reviews and assess state-of-the-art and emerging wide-area monitoring, protection, and control technologies • Support development, configuration, and execution of real-time simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing environments • Develop software applications and automation tools for power system analytics, modeling, and research • Prepare technical reports, journal papers, conference papers, presentations, and research deliverables • Support technical research leads in assessing member needs, developing technical approaches, preparing proposals, and planning future research • Present technical work at industry meetings, conferences, workshops, and EPRI events • Collaborate across multidisciplinary research teams while executing technical work independently • Manage multiple project assignments and technical deadlines

🎯 Requirements

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field with a concentration in power systems preferred • Master's degree with relevant industry and research experience may be considered • Experience conducting research, modeling, and simulation studies related to power system dynamics, stability, and control • Strong expertise in power system dynamics, stability analysis, and control • Demonstrated expertise in synchrophasor technology, measurement systems, and associated grid applications • Experience with electromechanical dynamics simulation platforms, preferably PSS®E • Experience with electromagnetic transient simulation platforms, preferably PSCAD • Knowledge of modeling and analysis of inverter-based resources and power-electronic-interfaced technologies • Familiarity with real-time simulation platforms and hardware-in-the-loop methodologies • Strong programming capabilities, preferably including Python, MATLAB, and C++ • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, technical writing, and presentation skills • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within collaborative technical teams • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple technical priorities and project deliverables • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
