📋 Description

• Exercise independent discretion or judgment in handling property claims within designated authority • Service the assigned territory and bring assigned claims to conclusion • Contact policyholders regarding property claims • Conduct investigations, interview insureds and witnesses, inspect damage, and prepare estimates • Evaluate coverage and make recommendations regarding claims • Handle property claims involving damages or coverage, including potentially litigated claims • Set and maintain adequate reserves • Obtain and review reports, statements, records, and related materials • Evaluate information to determine coverage and total claim value • Determine payments and issue checks or decline payment as required • Document claim files and submit final reports for closure • Identify subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Interact with agents and district sales managers • Negotiate with plaintiff attorneys or coordinate litigation with defense counsel when required • Develop and apply knowledge of estimating practices and procedures for property claims • Attend industry-related and other training sessions • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required • Serve catastrophe duty, including possible short-notice travel to other locations for more than two consecutive weeks

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required • High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education, or Bachelor’s Degree required • Must live in the assigned territory unless a change is approved by the company • Ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory • Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training required • Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Regular and predictable attendance required • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aid equipment • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required • Must serve on catastrophe duty, including possible short-notice travel • Good time management and organization skills preferred • Experience and qualifications may be considered for Property Adjuster II
