📋 Description

• Handle property claims within designated authority and exercise independent discretion or judgment • Contact policyholders regarding property claims • Conduct investigations and interview insureds and witnesses • Inspect damage and prepare estimates • Evaluate coverage, claim information, and total claim value • Set and maintain adequate reserves • Obtain and review reports, statements, records, and related materials • Determine payments and issue checks or decline payment as required • Document claim files and submit final reports for closure • Identify subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Service the assigned territory and bring claims to conclusion • Interact with agents and district sales managers • Handle claims involving damage, coverage, and potentially litigation • Negotiate with plaintiff attorneys or coordinate litigation with defense counsel as required • Develop and apply knowledge of property-claim estimating practices and procedures • Attend industry-related and other training sessions • Successfully complete Technical Learning Center Training within one year of hire • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required

🎯 Requirements

• Property Adjuster Trainee: High school diploma or equivalent required • Property Adjuster Trainee: Bachelor’s degree preferred • Property Adjuster I: High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE sponsored formal education; or Bachelor’s Degree required • Property Adjuster II: High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or Bachelor’s Degree and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required • Incumbent must live in the territory assigned unless a change is approved by the company • Ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory • Must serve on catastrophe duty, including possible short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training required • Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Regular and predictable attendance required • Frequent driving, lifting/moving up to 50 lbs, and computer/data-entry work; occasional pushing/pulling; rare climbing/accessing heights
