📋 Description

• Conduct investigations, interviews, and damage inspections within the assigned territory • Prepare estimates, make recommendations, handle coverage questions, and manage litigation • Set and maintain reserves; review reports and related materials • Direct experts, determine coverage and claim value, issue or decline payments, and negotiate claims with plaintiff attorneys when necessary • Document claim files and submit reports for closure • Recognize subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Service the assigned territory and bring assigned claims to conclusion • Interact with agents and district sales managers on matters of mutual concern • Assist the claims supervisor or act on their behalf, including representing the company at legal proceedings • Complete industry-related training and remain informed on policy changes, policy interpretation, and new legislation • Assist in training new claims adjusters • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required • Maintain regular and predictable attendance

🎯 Requirements

• Property Adjuster Trainee: High school diploma or equivalent required • Property Adjuster I: High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education; or Bachelor’s Degree required • Property Adjuster II: High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or Bachelor’s Degree and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required • Incumbent must live in the assigned territory unless a company-approved change is made • Ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory • Must serve on catastrophe duty, including possible short-notice travel for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training required • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred • Ability to use required personal protective equipment • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Frequent driving, manual keying/data entry, and computer use
