• Evaluate Behavioral Health training needs, current practices, and performance trends • Develop and deliver training plans, materials, tutorials, instructions, online modules, guides, and other learning resources • Facilitate training sessions, refresher education, and coaching discussions • Review coding auditors’ accuracy and consistency to ensure audits are appropriately marked for findings and no findings • Provide root cause analysis on errors • Mentor Behavioral Health outpatient coders and provide timely coaching and feedback • Perform quality reviews for initial audits and appeals • Identify potential opportunities for additional recoveries • Recommend process changes to improve quality and performance • Communicate effectively with peers and management • Perform other duties as assigned • Follow company Compliance, Information Security, and Regulatory policies, procedures, and programs
• 5+ years of experience with Behavioral Health services, including mental health and substance use disorder treatment • Preferred credentials: CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, Registered Nurse, or MSW; preference given to candidates with multiple credentials • Superior knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to Behavioral Health • Experience facilitating classroom, virtual, and one-on-one training sessions for coders, auditors, or clinical review teams • Ability to translate complex Behavioral Health coding, audit, and compliance concepts into clear training content • Proficient in BH modifier application following Medicare and NCCI guidelines • Ability to write professional notes quoting Official Coding Guidelines, ICD-10 Coding Handbook, Coding Clinic, and other recognized sources • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Confident public speaking and presentation skills • Ability to mentor and instruct through audits • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail • Ability to work independently and in a team environment • Flexibility and adaptability • Superior BH auditing and monitoring skills • Excellent decision-making skills and sound judgment • Strong technical knowledge and ability to learn new systems quickly • Ability to complete tasks efficiently and resolve problems within set timelines • Ability to work under deadlines • Independent decision-making skills in varied situations • High degree of accuracy • Personal computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word • Strong interpersonal skills
