📋 Description

• Own the architecture of ledger and balance services, including data models, consistency guarantees, and interfaces for balances and spend authorization • Design and build distributed Java and Spring Boot services for high transaction volumes with strict correctness, idempotency, and auditability • Model funds by type and eligibility based on client, product, customer location, and transaction type • Lead phased migration of existing business wallets onto the shared ledger, including dual-running, reconciliation, cutover, and rollback plans • Architect event-driven integrations so balance changes are reliably published with dependable ordering and delivery • Work with Responsible Gaming and Fraud teams to enforce limits, self-exclusion, and other customer protections • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Compliance on fund attribution, settlement, chargebacks, and data sharing • Build reconciliation and audit capabilities, including transaction histories, financial reporting feeds, and verification tooling • Lead cross-team technical initiatives, architectural reviews, design sessions, and incident postmortems • Mentor engineers and improve security, observability, reliability, and testing standards • Partner with product, frontend, and mobile teams on consistent customer-facing balance behavior • Attend occasional Fanatics office or industry-event travel for planning, collaboration, and team development

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience • Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot • Experience designing and operating a ledger, wallet, balance service, or financial system of record • Strong command of transactional consistency, idempotency, concurrency control, and relational data modeling • Experience building event-driven systems and working with message streaming platforms such as Kafka • Demonstrated success setting technical direction and driving alignment across multiple teams • Experience migrating live, high-traffic systems with minimal customer impact • Ability to explain complex technical tradeoffs clearly to engineering, product, finance, and leadership audiences • Comfort working in a fast-paced, regulated environment with changing priorities • Preferred: experience in online gaming, sports betting, fintech, banking, or payments • Preferred: experience with shared platforms used by several business units • Preferred: experience with financial reconciliation, settlement, or accounting-oriented data models • Preferred: familiarity with data privacy and consent requirements • Preferred: experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and observability tooling such as Datadog, Grafana, or CloudWatch • Preferred: interest in developer experience, clean API design, and maintainable systems
