• Set the strategic direction for the Specialized Line of Business and prioritize Credit Products enhancements • Oversee first-line credit underwriting and portfolio management teams across the customer lifecycle • Develop and execute credit strategies using data, models, and advanced analytics • Ensure sufficient tools, technology, and staffing for underwriting and monitoring • Partner with business leaders, Relationship Managers, product partners, and sales teams to drive responsible growth and revenue objectives • Identify and escalate improvements to credit processes, policies, and procedures • Work directly with external bank clients on credit-related needs and objectives • Collaborate with second-line Credit Risk management on credit risk and early warning indicators • Manage implementation and controls for underwriting, line management, and targeting criteria across internal systems and vendor platforms • Monitor portfolio performance and profitability by customer segment and adjust credit strategies within the risk appetite framework • Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure regulatory adherence • Provide credit risk reporting and analysis for data-driven decisions • Recruit, develop, and train credit underwriting and portfolio management talent • Manage talent functions including hiring, performance evaluations, staff development, disciplinary actions, succession planning, and compliance • Perform special projects and additional duties as required • Complete required compliance training and maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent required • 15+ years of first-line credit underwriting, portfolio management, and risk management experience within the financial industry • 10+ years managing teams of credit analysts and underwriters in a specialty vertical • 10+ years of experience in a specialized line of business, such as specialized commercial industries, capital markets, or corporate commercial banking • Expertise in credit bureaus, credit decision engines, credit and cash flow modeling, income/identity verification, and loss forecasting • Advanced knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations related to credit decisions • Strong communication and presentation skills • Strategic-level experience as part of a senior management team • Awareness of the industry across served markets and ability to incorporate that knowledge into analysis and strategy recommendations • Ability to meet tight timelines, estimate level of effort, multitask, and prioritize workload • Strong team-building and leadership skills • Ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships through clear communication and proactive collaboration • Ability to build trusted internal and external client relationships and deliver tailored solutions • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion to make decisions and resolve problems • Must maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
