âą Lead planning, design, execution, analysis, and reporting of user research studies across the full research lifecycle âą Recommend and defend qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and study designs âą Ensure research activities meet evidence-based practices and rigorous scientific and ethical standards âą Review research findings, synthesis, and recommendations for technical accuracy, clarity, and completeness âą Conduct usability and accessibility evaluations for diverse government-service users, including people with disabilities and varying digital literacy âą Translate complex findings into actionable recommendations for product teams, designers, and policymakers âą Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to embed research insights into service design decisions âą Lead technical discussions and presentations with government stakeholders âą Advise on service design standards, USWDS, and Section 508 accessibility requirements âą Provide technical guidance and mentorship to research staff âą Contribute to proposal development and capture efforts, including background research and study design recommendations âą Serve as the technical anchor for a research team and engage directly with government stakeholders âą Support an upcoming federal contract focused on user research, human-centered design, and human factors professional services
âą Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, Information Science, Anthropology, Sociology, Design Research, or a related discipline âą Minimum of eight years of professional experience conducting user research for digital products or services âą Demonstrated command of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies âą Expertise in digital service design and delivery, from initial concept through launch and iteration âą Hands-on experience conducting usability and accessibility evaluations against recognized standards âą Track record of translating research findings into recommendations that measurably shaped design or product decisions âą Exceptional written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills âą Must be a U.S. Citizen âą Consent to a full background check âą Must meet eligibility criteria for access to sensitive information âą Preferred, not required: consulting or professional services experience âą Preferred, not required: federal agency experience, especially CDC, IRS, and/or DHS âą Preferred, not required: familiarity with Section 508 and OMB digital experience guidance; DHS Trusted Tester âą Preferred, not required: agile or scrum experience âą Preferred, not required: experience mentoring or leading research staff âą Preferred, not required: familiarity with human factors engineering standards and tools such as the System Usability Scale âą Relevant professional certification is preferred, including NN/g UX Certification, CCXP, or comparable certification
