📋 Description

• Develop protective relay settings for microprocessor relays including SEL, GE, ABB, and others • Develop settings for transmission line relays, including line differential, step distance, and pilot schemes • Develop settings for substation relays, including capacitor banks, transformers, and buses • Conduct short circuit analysis and relay coordination studies • Implement control and protection schemes by interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams and preparing relay logic • Work on substation and/or protection and control engineering projects, including detailed design for high-voltage substation projects through 500kV • Mentor and manage staff at all levels • Manage tasks across multiple projects according to project management standards • Manage competing priorities and shifting deadlines or scope changes • Identify project barriers and mitigate them without schedule impacts • Perform basic design tasks and assist with field activities, material testing, CADD work, permit applications, and report writing • Manage personal tasks and adhere to deadlines and scope • Travel to job sites or client meetings as needed, approximately 10% • Engage with project stakeholders while maintaining professionalism and respectful inclusion

🎯 Requirements

• 2+ years of related experience • B.S. in Engineering or another technical degree • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field • Protective relay experience for transmission and distribution systems • Experience developing settings for microprocessor relays, including SEL, GE, and ABB • Knowledge of transmission line relay schemes, including line differential, step distance, and pilot schemes • Knowledge of substation relay applications for capacitor banks, transformers, and buses • Experience with short circuit analysis and relay coordination studies • Proficiency with Aspen OneLiner and/or PSS CAPE • Proficiency with SEL AcSELerator Quickset and GE EnerVista • Ability to interpret schematics and wiring diagrams and prepare relay logic • Resource management skills and ability to identify and mitigate project barriers • Ability to manage competing priorities, shifting deadlines, and scope changes • Basic oral and written communication skills • Required driver's license • Ability to travel approximately 10% to job sites or client meetings
