📋 Description

• Engineer custom AWS cloud solutions for NIAID line-of-business, scientific, and high-performance computing applications • Collaborate with product owners, researchers, software developers, and cross-functional teams to design AWS application topologies • Guide teams on best practices for secure and optimal use of cloud technologies • Assist development teams in migrating products from on-premises infrastructure to AWS • Refactor monolithic applications into microservice architectures or serverless workloads • Train product teams on AWS technologies, services, and frameworks • Help teams set up environments, build and deploy applications, and automate operational needs • Develop prototypes and enhance platform capabilities including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containerized workloads, serverless workloads, and HPC • Participate in daily stand-up meetings and report accomplishments, plans, and roadblocks • Serve as an AWS Cloud Subject Matter Expert on cross-functional teams • Present DevOps best practices, cloud technologies, and technical solutions during Tech Talks webinars

🎯 Requirements

• Technical training, certifications, and/or degree and 5+ years of related experience • 3+ years of experience with AWS and commonly used AWS services, including ECS, EC2, EBS, S3, and Lambda • Working knowledge of infrastructure-as-code frameworks such as Terraform and CloudFormation, including writing templates and modules from scratch • Experience with configuration management frameworks • Knowledge of containerization and hands-on experience containerizing software applications • Experience with container orchestration and deployment platforms such as AWS ECS and AWS EKS • Experience implementing and managing CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or similar tools • Experience presenting ideas to technical and non-technical users • Ability to write comprehensive technical documentation • Must be able to obtain a NIH Public Trust clearance • Experience with AWS Security services and tooling such as Security Groups, CloudTrail, Config, Inspector, and IAM • Experience with configuration management through AWS Systems Manager, Ansible, Jenkins, or similar tools • Experience analyzing solution components, systems integration challenges, and technology gaps • Experience designing and implementing microservice technologies in a Federal Scientific Health Research environment • Experience refactoring applications into cloud-native applications • Experience consulting scientists, researchers, and developers on designing, migrating, and optimizing AWS solutions
