📋 Description

• Develop strategic communications supporting Customs and Border Protection’s trade enforcement mission • Collaborate with technical staff to translate complex concepts and technical language for general audiences • Conceive and develop print and digital content for internal and external audiences • Prepare, edit, and revise presentations, talking points, and other documents • Prepare, edit, and revise materials supporting external outreach events • Execute quick-turn communications tasks for senior leadership • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously • Develop and execute communications plans for specific initiatives • Plan, write, and edit content on deadline • Adhere to style guides and federal plain-language requirements • Plan, schedule, and facilitate meetings using in-person, MS Teams, Webex, and other platforms • Work with a distributed team in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related discipline • 7+ years of related experience • U.S. citizenship required • Current DHS U.S. Customs and Border Protection BI Clearance or ability to obtain one • Prior security clearance preferred • Editorial communications abilities, including excellent writing, editing, and content development skills • Strong attention to detail • Ability to work independently with accountability and ownership • Ability to complete work products to a high standard of quality • Experience working in the government space • Extensive experience writing and editing on deadline for publication • Experience developing content for print and digital platforms • Competency with standard office tools, including MS Office suite and SharePoint • Familiarity with style guides, AP Stylebook, and federal plain-language requirements • Comfort working remotely on a distributed team • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities • Core hours between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM EST • Ability to travel to Ashburn, Virginia, for quarterly onsite client meetings if required
