📋 Description

• Develop and implement a scalable, secure, cloud-based data platform supporting operational data, reporting, and analytics • Engineer multi-tenant cloud-based environments supporting hybrid/on-premises systems, SQL, NoSQL, IaaS, PaaS, distributed SQL, multimodal, and event-driven/streaming databases • Produce and maintain dimensional data models for data marts and data products • Develop and maintain downstream data marts, consumable data, ETL/ELT processes, reports, and dashboards • Develop, deploy, and maintain data presentation and reports using customer-selected visualization or presentation tools • Support the Data and Technology Enabler Roadmap across data engineering, reporting/analytics, and AI/ML use cases • Design and develop data ingestion and ETL/ELT pipelines integrating multiple enterprise sources • Implement reusable data services supporting analytics, reporting, downstream data marts, and gold layers • Implement logical and physical data models in cloud platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or AWS Redshift • Develop and maintain secure, testable code • Support operationalization of CMM Data Classification Standards, including workshops, security controls, metadata requirements, and system integration • Configure metadata structures, workflows, automation, and security settings • Create training, job aids, and communications supporting user adoption • Integrate data pipelines with cloud services, messaging, and storage components • Implement data quality checks, validations, and error handling • Optimize pipeline performance, scalability, and cost efficiency • Support CI/CD deployments, automated testing, and promotion across environments • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and sprint ceremonies • Resolve incidents and perform root cause analysis for data pipeline failures • Produce and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, workflows, STTMs, data models, design documents, and testing documents • Ensure deliverables meet federal security, governance, and audit requirements • Collaborate across Agile scrum teams with architects, DBAs, business analysts, QA personnel, Data Architecture, Data Governance, and Migration teams • Execute data migration, archival, and disaster recovery strategies • Deliver migration documentation for scripts, transformations, and validation results • Support failover testing and disaster recovery drills • Implement operational databases, document storage, indexing services, schemas, and secure data APIs using infrastructure as code

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of related experience • MA/MS degree with 5+ years of general experience and 5+ years of specialized experience, or BS/BA degree with 7+ years of general experience and 5+ years of specialized experience • Experience may substitute for education: HS with 16+ years, AA/AS with 14+ years, BA/BS with 12+ years, or doctorate/Ph.D. with 9+ years • Experience in data engineering and data architecture design • Understanding of system security best practices • Experience building and migrating software and IT services to strategic business needs • Experience researching advanced technologies for business needs • Experience with AWS data and compute services • Experience with data orchestration tools • Knowledge of cloud messaging and storage services • Proven software and data engineering experience • Hands-on experience building enterprise-scale data pipelines • Strong proficiency with SQL, Python, and data transformation techniques • Experience developing on cloud-based data platforms • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum environments • Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments • Experience supporting data platforms or analytics programs • Hands-on experience with data platforms • Proficiency with ETL/ELT frameworks • Experience with streaming or near-real-time data ingestion • Familiarity with data governance, metadata, and classification standards • Experience mentoring junior data engineers • Excellent oral and written presentation and communication skills • Ability to work with high-level customer stakeholders and build customer relationships • Experience identifying and applying industry tools, solutions, methods, best practices, and emerging technologies • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to formulate and communicate improvement recommendations • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team • Preferred certifications: Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Snowflake SnowPro Core, Databricks Certified Data Professional, AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified Data Engineer • US citizenship is not required • No security clearance is required • No travel is required
